Odin and Frigga went in for their hip x-rays today, we will be expecting the results back in the next 3-4 weeks. We are using PennHip certification instead of OFA because we feel it is more trustworthy. Click here to read about it. Odin and Frigga also had their TSH Panel come back within normal limits.

Our dogs and goals

Welcome to Aesir American Bulldogs! We are a small family kennel located in Calgary, Alberta, Canada. We are breeding a combination of Old Southern Whites with Hybrid or Standard lines to produce the best performance type American Bulldogs possible. Our goal is to produce American Bulldogs with a balance between conformation and working ability while eliminating several historical breed defects through physical and genetic testing. Our dogs are double registered with both the NKC and ABA, and it is our hope that by producing dogs consistent in temperament and appearence eventually the breed will be recognized by the CKC and AKC as well. Both Odin and Frigga have been or are in the process of being tested for hip dysplasia through PennHIP, NCL, and other deficiencies found within the breed with the goal of producing the healthiest puppies possible. American Bulldogs are true working dogs that require a large amount of exercise, attention, and care. We recommend a minimum commitment of 1-2 hours a day for exercise and training although they can and will go for much longer! The strength, intelligence, and agility of the American Bulldog allow it to excel at jobs such as boar hunter, schutzhund, or guard dog. As a pet, these same characteristics make it competitive in obedience, weight pulling, and even agility.

The American Bulldog is a gentle, loving family companion who is fearless enough to face an angry bull or a human intruder. They are known for being great with children and other pets, and are often described as having “true grit, true devotion, and true love”. We may be a small kennel but we have taken great care in selecting breeding dogs that represent these qualities from lines we recognize and trust.
